#55 Black-Shanked Douc Langur

Critically Endangered

Five days of a new, black colour theme

These are "old world monkeys" and live in Cambodia and Vietnam. They can live up to 30 years. As herbivores they have a multi-chamber stomach. Other than occasionally licking dew off of leaves they get all their moisture from their food. They are crucial to help disperse seeds to keep the rainforest healthy. Unfortunately they are hunted for their body parts to be used in traditional medicine, and for pet trade.

My husband says I'm part reptile because I get my water from my food. Maybe I will tell him I'm more likely part Douc Langur. I almost never drink water. I typically have a cup of coffee in the morning, and often that is all I have to drink all day. Water actually makes me nauseous. I have tried all the suggestions, and generally once a week I might start to feel a little dehydrated and will have a flavoured fizzy water, but that's about it. Sometimes I might drink a ginger ale, the really strong ones that burn a bit and are almost like chewing on a piece of ginger. Most days one cup of coffee is enough, but I do also love a nice Earl Grey tea too.
